Transport Networks for Mobile Operators (TNMO) has offered trusted and exceptional case studies from telecoms operators for over 17 years. Now the event has evolved to address new challenges. In 2015 it will focus on radio access network (RAN) and mobile backhaul architectures and how these are evolving to deliver the required performance to meet the capacity and bandwidth challenges of the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G. The event provides a unique opportunity for operators and vendors to meet and discuss how to cost-effeciently combat capacity constraints by examining how operators can upgrade and expand their networks.

Robin Mersh takes a look at how the industry is creating next-generation optical access fit for 5G

Feature

Technological advances to aid the increasing demand for bandwidth, on the path towards the terabit network, should lead to optical signals that are flexible and adaptive, like water, argues Dr Maxim Kuschnerov and Dr Yin Wang
