RETN selects Infinera XT-3300 to scale capacity for international network

International network service provider RETN is deploying the Infinera XT-3300 and FlexILS to scale network capacity for its large international wholesale and enterprise customer base.

RETN operates a backbone network that spans 33,000km of fibre and connects 34 countries across Europe, Asia and North America. The provider has previously deployed the Infinera DTN-X, XT-500 and Cloud Xpress throughout Europe and Russia. The deployment of the Infinera XT-3300 and FLexILS connects Scandinavian countries to Russia across one of RETN’s main backbone routes.

ADVA Optical boosts DCI capacity for Telehouse America

ADVA Optical Networking has announced that Telehouse America, a global leader for data centres and international internet exchanges, is using the vendor’s data centre interconnect (DCI) platform to boost capacity between its New York service locations and New York colocation facilities. The equipment was turned on last month, the vendor says.

Corning supplies FTTH infrastructure to STC

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has chosen Corning’s optical solutions for the expansion of its national network for high-speed connectivity and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) applications.

The agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two parties, which has seen more than 1.5 million kilometres of optical fibre supplied across the provider’s network. The companies are additionally collaborating to develop a program of advanced technical training to STC fibre engineers and technicians.

Vodafone and CityFibre choose Milton Keynes for FTTP roll-out

Milton Keynes is set to become the first community to benefit from gigabit-capable ‘full fibre’ broadband under the new Vodafone and CityFibre fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) programme. The project will see CityFibre invest at least £40 million into the city’s digital infrastructure.

Hurricane Electric deploys Coriant Groove DCI platform

The market for data centre interconnect (DCI) equipment continues to expand and Coriant is enjoying its share of the action. Hurricane Electric, which claims to operate the world’s largest IPv6 backbone, has deployed the vendor's Groove G30 platform to connect data centres in Silicon Valley.
