HiLight releases 11.3G CMOS TIA optimised for APDs

HiLight Semiconductor has announced the production release of the HLR10G1, a 11.3Gb/s CMOS transimpedance amplifier (TIA) designed to provide best-in-class sensitivity when used with 10Gb/s avalanche photodiodes (APDs).

Manufactured on 12-inch wafers, the HLR10G1 is ideally positioned to meet the high-volume, low-cost, high-performance requirements of the 10G PON market, which should start to ramp in 2017, the company contends.

Macom presents complete chipset for 10G PON deployments

Macom Technology Solutions has announced what it believes is the industry’s first and only complete chipset for 10Gb/s passive optical network (PON) applications.

The availability of all products from the same supplier will accelerate the deployment of 10G PON systems by make it easier and more cost-effective for customers to integrate the various parts when designing and building optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONU) equipment.

ProLabs launches range of Green 100G transceivers

Compatible transceiver supplier ProLabs has unveiled the first product in a new line of ‘Green’ optical transceivers, which consume 30 per cent less power than traditional devices while offering the same great performance.

MACOM's 100G Single Lambda Solution leverages the company's 53 Gbaud PAM-4 technology to deliver 100G throughput over a single wavelength.

MACOM unveils end-to-end 100G single-lambda portfolio

Macom Technology Solutions has unveiled what it claims is the industry’s first complete 100G single lambda solution for cloud data centre optical interconnects that promises unprecedented system density at even lower cost per bit.

The availability of a complete set of products from a single supplier will enable customers to quickly and easily integrate those components, and get to market faster with the next-generation of 100G interconnects.

Champion ONE unveils 25G SFP28 SR and LR transceivers

Optical transceiver supplier Champion ONE has announced general availability of a new range of 25G SFP28 hot-pluggable transceivers for server and wireless applications. The new modules are part of the company’s Passport portfolio of compatible transceivers.

PI offers fast multi-channel photonics alignment system

During production and inspection of components with optical data transmission, it is important to align fibres or fibre arrays with the highest possible accuracy. Position tolerances under 50nm are common and multi-channel inputs and outputs require simultaneous alignment in several axes.

Molex updates zSFP+ interconnect system to support 56G channels

Molex says its zSFP+ Interconnect System now supports channels with individual lane data rates up to 56Gb/s PAM-4, providing enhanced signal integrity for next-generation Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications.

The cages and cable assemblies that make up the zSFP+ Interconnect System come in a stacked 2xN configuration to meet the needs of OEMs requiring high-density interconnects. The product range includes EMI-protected ganged cages, which are available in multiple port sizes from 2x1 through 2x12.

VI Systems debuts 56G NRZ VCSEL driver and TIA chips

VI Systems has launched its first-generation 56Gb/s laser driver and amplifier chips designed for non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation in latency-critical optical communication links. The chips are designed to comply with the recently completed common electrical interface CEI-56G specification from the Optical Internet Working Forum (OIF), which specifies 56Gb/s NRZ signalling for very-short and ultra-short reach optical interconnects.

Smartoptics expands 100G QSFP28 transceiver family

The 100G QSFP28 transceiver remains a popular choice for intra-rack and data centre use and therefore is an important part of Smartoptics’ portfolio of compatible optical transceivers. Now Smartoptics has added four new models to its QSFP28 product range.

The SO-QSFP28-LR4-10L and SO-QSFP28-LR4-2L are direct-modulated laser (DML) diodes for 10km and 2km applications. The DML provides a cost-effective alternative to standard LR modules based on electroabsorption modulated lasers (EML), which are better suited to Ethernet-only traffic.

Qorvo launches PAM4 product family for data centres

Qorvo has introduced five new low-power four-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) integrated circuits (ICs) aimed at delivering higher performance in data centre and client-side applications. The family of transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and drivers gives customers the broadest range of PAM4 options as their migrate their optical networks to 100G to 400G data rates.
