FDP optical fibre

Polymicro Technologies, a subsidiary of Molex, has announced improvements to its FDP optical fibre. The latest enhancements improve solarisation of the fibre in deep UV (ultra-violet) applications (190 – 325 nm).

200/230 PolyClad Optical Fibre

Polymicro Technologies, a subsidiary of Molex, has successfully developed an optical fibre comprising a low -OH synthetic fused silica core, PolyClad hard polymer clad and ETFE buffer/jacket. Featuring high tensile strength and minimal bend radius for high reliability, Polymicro’s 200/230 PolyClad Optical Fibre accommodates short-to-medium distance data communications in factory automation and process control applications and withstands harsh temperature, chemical and radiation environments.

Specialty Optical Fibre

Polymicro Technologies, a subsidiary of Molex Incorporated, has extended its specialty optical fibre offering, with the introduction of FBPI optical fibre and Hollow Silica Wavelength fibre products.

ReCoater 2, AutoCoater 2, MiniCoater 2 and ReCoater 2XL

AFL now offers Nyfors Teknologi AB’s new family of recoating products including the ReCoater 2, AutoCoater 2, MiniCoater 2 and ReCoater 2XL. Ideal for restoring the protective coating on optical fibres, NYFORS’ new recoaters are sold exclusively by AFL in the North American market. 

AllWave FLEX /FLEX+

Tratos, a manufacturer of electrical, electronic and fibre optic cables, has launched the AllWave FLEX and the AllWave FLEX+ bend-optimised single-mode fibre range.

The range has been developed with fibre optic network solutions manufacturer OFS in order to offer customers a solution for any application that requires exceptionally small bend diameters.

LL-580 optical splicing and distribution enclosure

AFL has launched the LL-580 optical splicing and distribution enclosure, designed for organising, splicing and interconnecting fibres.

The enclosure addresses the need to patch, patch and splice, express cut/drop fibres and manage wavelengths (WDM or splitters) in a single enclosure. AFL says that, given its flexibility, the enclosure is an ideal fit for business service hand-offs, MDU distribution and connectivity, cellular backhaul and other commercial services that require weather-proof field connectivity.

Fujikura 19S fusion splicer

AFL has introduced the Fujikura 19S fusion splicer, a fixed, V‑groove single fibre splicer, the latest in several new field splicer solutions launched by the company in 2013.

The company says the device retains the proven ruggedised features pioneered by Fujikura, but incorporates automated and enhanced user control capabilities to increase splicing efficiency.

Glass-sealed 'feedthru'

Ametek, a provider of underwater cable and connector solutions for military and commercial applications, has developed the technology to produce a glass-sealed fibre optic 'feedthru' (FOFT) for extreme high-pressure, high-temperature applications.
