Nyfors introduces SmartSplicer advanced laser splicing system

At the 2015 LASER world of PHOTONICS trade show in Munich, Germany, on 22–25 June, Nyfors will introduce the SmartSplicer – an advanced glass processing and optical fibre splicing product platform for development and manufacturing of sensitive high-power laser, sensor and telecommunication fibre components. The SmartSplicer uses annular CO2 laser heating for flexible and contamination-free processing of fused fibre components.

TE Connectivity unveils Osmium high-density chassis

TE Connectivity (TE) has introduced the new Osmium high-density fibre-optic chassis specifically designed to decrease the required number of racks deployed in data centres, resulting in reduced floor space usage and associated cost savings. The Osmium high-density fibre-optic chassis offers up to 45 per cent improvement in density for LC ports per rack unit compared to the nearest market equivalent, offering 210 LC ports compared to 144 LC ports.

Global Marine acquires ROV for precision cable burial

Global Marine Systems has expanded its subsea installation capabilities with the acquisition of a powerful jet trenching remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV). Complementing the company’s existing burial equipment, the new submersible and is designed for pre and post-lay trenching as well as simultaneous lay and burial in the offshore subsea cable sectors.

R&M updates R&MinteliPhy 3.0 with multi-site function

Are data networks working at all company locations? Many IT managers working for larger companies ask themselves this question on an almost daily basis. Using the R&MinteliPhy automated infrastructure management system, R&M customers can now monitor every plug connection in real time, regardless of the location.

m2fx partners with Hevek for FTTH deployments in Iraq

m2fx, the inventors and producers of the patented Miniflex pushable fibre cables, have partnered with Hevek Company, expanding distribution of its products into Iraq for the first time.

Established for more than 20 years, Hevek Company focuses on supplying the highest quality fibre-optic products to telecoms providers in Iraq, helping transform the country’s telecommunications network and expanding the economy through high-speed fibre networks, including fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments.

Molex offers OptoConnect custom optical enclosures

Molex has launched its OptoConnect range of custom optical enclosures, which provide a complete end-to-end optical management system for high-density telecom and datacom equipment used in communication systems for aerospace and defence networks.

Designed to simplify complex fibre-optic mapping, the OptoConnect fibre routing system uses integrated FlexPlane optical circuitry to provide high-density optical routing on printed circuit boards or backplanes instead of with cables and patch cords.

R&M and Virtual Instruments partner for network monitoring

Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss developer and provider of connectivity systems for network infrastructure, has partnered with with Virtual Instruments, the specialist in infrastructure performance management, to provide better visibility into network performance.

As a result of this partnership, R&M today launched its Total Network Visibility monitoring platform, a holistic approach to network visibility that integrates passive traffic access points (TAPs) seamlessly into its automated infrastructure management system R&MinteliPhy.

TE expands Quareo physical layer management product range

TE Connectivity has expanded its Quareo family of physical layer management (PLM) systems with additional products featuring connection point identification (CPID) technology. The new Quareo-enabled platforms include the QNG4 optical distribution frame and QHDEP equipment panel.

MicroCare displays CleanClicker push-to-clean tool

MicroCare, a manufacturer of cleaning, coating and lubrication products, will showcase the newest additions to its Sticklers family of fibre-optic cleaning tools at the OFC exposition in Los Angeles, California, from 24-26 March 2015.

Sticklers products are popular for fibre cleaning, the company says. At OFC, the company will showcase the new CleanClicker push-to-clean tools, which deliver a lower cost-per-cleaning in a convenient, ergonomic cleaning tool.

Corning unveils SMF-28 Ultra 200 fibre

Corning has announced its newest singlemode optical fibre, Corning SMF-28 Ultra 200 fibre, which it claims is the industry’s first 200-micron fibre with a 9.2 micron nominal mode-field diameter (MFD).  SMF-28 Ultra 200 fibre enables the design of smaller, lighter, fully backwards-compatible, high-fibre, high-density cables.
