Adtran launches 10G-EPON virtual remote OLTs

Optical access equipment specialist Adtran has expanded its software-defined access (SD-Access) portfolio with an environmentally sealed and compact 10G-EPON virtual remote optical line terminal (R-OLT) unit.

Aimed at cable operators looking to upgrade their networks with fibre to the home and distributed access architectures (DAA), these new elements make it possible for them to implement the latest technologies, while seamlessly integrating into their existing DOCSIS back office provisioning and operational systems.

Keymile presents MileGate 3510 high-density GPON OLT

Broadband equipment supplier Keymile has introduced MileGate 3510, a high-density GPON optical line terminal (OLT) that supports up to 12,2288 residential and business subscribers from a single platform. Taking advantage of the high scalability of the point-to-multipoint architecture of passive optical networks, the new platform is ideal for developing more cost-efficient fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and building (FTTB) network infrastructure, the company claims.

Sumitomo Electric launches T-400S handheld fusion splicer

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (SEL), part of the Sumitomo Electric Industries Group, has announced the T400S active clad alignment fusion splicer. The new splicer has been designed to provide one machine that accomplishes all FTTx splicing activities in the field.

Providing consistent and quality low loss splicing, the new instrument has a new, simplified user interface. It is compatible with SEL’s Lynx2 splice-on connecter, offering an economical choice for reliable deployments in the access network.

Teleste and Iskratel develop hybrid GPON/DOCSIS platform

Broadband and video systems specialist Teleste has worked with Iskratel to develop a proof of concept solution for the delivery of triple-play services that combines Iskratel’s GPON hardware with Teleste’s DOCSIS-based mini-CMTS (cable modem termination system), called the DOCSIS Access Hub (DAH).

Calix launches AXOS Sandbox for speedier service creation

Broadband equipment developer Calix has announced AXOS Sandbox, a virtual environment that makes it easier for service providers to introduce new services by eliminating the need for them to set up and test physical systems in their labs.

Fremco unveils fibre blowing machine with double protection

Fremco, a specialist in the design and production of fibre blowing machines, has introduced a fully automatic portable fibre blowing machine with a unique double-protection system for blown fibre units.

Typically, 10–15 per cent of blown fibres are scrapped during the installation process, which is expensive and time-consuming. With the new Fremco Nanoflow there will be considerably less damage and frustration when installing enhanced performance fibre units (EPFU), the company claims.

ViaLite unveils new enclosures for RF over fibre equipment

ViaLite Communications, a trading name of Pulse Power & Measurement, has expanded its ODE range of outdoor enclosures to include a new enclosure, the ODE-B 12.

The new ODE-B 12 has been designed to hold up to 12 VialiteHD RF over fibre links in module format, plus the SNMP monitoring module. This is twice as many as the standard ODE-B unit, which holds up to six.

Huawei launches combined 10G HFC and FTTH access platform

Huawei used ANGA COM 2016 to launch what it claims is the industry's first 10Gb/s hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) access platform. The company says the platform is the first of its kind to support 10G DOCSIS 3.1 over cable as well as 10G-PON fibre-to-the-home (FTTH).

In addition, the company is showing a 10Gb/s DOCSIS 3.1 service demonstration at ANGA COM 2016 this week.
