Sedona Systems launches Hierarchical SDN Controller for rapid service creation and assurance

Sedona Systems launched its new Hierarchical Network Controller product at this year’s OFC conference.

The product is designed to automatically discover, provision and optimise L0-L3 services across multilayer, multivendor, multi-domain networks, affording providers next generation software-defined networks as well as automated service creation and assurance. The controller is ‘hierarchical’ because it exists at the top level of the network control layer above domain controllers from packet and transport vendors.

Sedona launches NetFusion multilayer applications platform

Software company Sedona Systems has launched its NetFusion multilayer applications platform. Although the software has already been commercially deployed by more than one Tier 1 service provider, the company had neglected to formally announce the product, according to sources at OFC 2017 in Los Angeles. Sedona hopes to announce some of those customers in the coming months.

Comsof launches FiberPlanIT Engineer

At the upcoming FTTH Conference 2017 in Marseille, Comsof will launch a new product: FiberPlanIT Engineer. This new product is an extension to the FiberPlanIT Designer that focuses on the design and planning stage of FTTx networks. With the addition of FiberPlanIT Engineer, Comsof says it can serve its customers during the construction phase as well.

ECI adds LightCARE network monitoring to LightAPPS family

Optical transport systems vendor ECI has added a network maintenance app, LightCARE, to its LightAPPS family of applications for software-defined networking.

LightCARE continuously and proactively monitors the health of the network to pre-empt potential failures and avoid network downtime. This, in turn, increases customer satisfaction and loyalty, which are both important to any business.

VPIphotonics and PhoeniX enable rapid circuit design for TriPleX technology

VPIphotonics and PhoeniX Software, in cooperation with LioniX International, have teamed up to develop a photonics process design kit (PDK) that supports circuit simulation and layout design of application-specific photonic integrated circuits (ASPICs) to be processed on LioniX International’s TriPleX technology platform.

Ciena adds analytics to Blue Planet software suite

Ciena’s has enhanced the functionality of its Blue Planet software environment with the addition of Blue Planet Analytics, which generates deep network insights to help network operators make smarter, data-driven business decisions.

Integrating network analytics with orchestration and policy systems, Blue Planet Analytics helps operators to continue on the path to a more autonomous network and is a strategic evolution of Ciena’s Blue Planet software suite, the company says.

Adtran unveils ‘Mosaic’ open software-defined access architecture

Access systems provider Adtran has launched an open software defined access architecture capable of supporting rapid service creation and delivery for both business and residential broadband services.

Dubbed ‘Mosaic’, the new architecture combines modern web-scale technology with open source platforms to facilitate rapid innovation in multi-technology, multi-vendor environments, according to the vendor.
