JGR Optics unveils EOTS Environmental Optical Test System

Test and measurement specialist JGR Optics has announced the availability of its new EOTS Environmental Optical Test System, which is used for insertion loss and return loss testing of optical components being stressed in a temperature/humidity chamber. The EOTS is designed to allow users to easily and accurately verify a component’s compliance to Telcordia and Verizon’s Fiber Optic Component (FOC) certification requirements components.

Yenista unveils high-performance component test platform

Test and measurement specialist Yenista Optics has developed the CTP10, a platform for testing passive optical components such as photonic integrated circuits and wavelength-selective switches.

The CTP10 platform has been designed for heavy duty measurements in both R&D and production environments. The mainframe hosts up to 10 hot-swappable modules and can handle up to four devices under test simultaneously.

AFL intros ‘no wireless’ version of FOCIS Flex connector inspection tool

AFL has expanded its portfolio of fibre connector inspection products with the FOCIS Flex No Wireless (NW) version of its award-winning FOCIS Flex inspection probe. FOCIS Flex is a self-contained, tether-free, compact and handheld connector inspection probe. At the click of a button, FOCIS Flex auto-focuses, captures, centres and analyses end-face images to easily display, transfer or store pass/fail results within seconds.

Yokogawa releases entry-level OTDR for FTTH networks

Yokogawa is adding an entry-level model, the AQ1000, to its range of optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) test instruments. The new instrument is designed to increase the productivity of field personnel working on the installation and deployment of optical access networks such as fibre to the home (FTTH), the so-called “last mile” to consumers’ premises.

OptoTest launches OPL-CLX production software suite

Test and measurement specialist OptoTest has released a brand-new software suite, OPL-CLX. The software has been developed for the modern optical cable production and assembly line, to streamline the experience for the operator when using OptoTest’s insertion and return loss measurement instruments.

Coherent Solutions offers new modules for MTP test platform

Coherent Solutions has introduced five new modules for its MTP modular optical test platform for manufacturing and research and development environments. The company has also developed a smaller version of the test platform.

The new MTP modules add more functionality to the optical engineer’s toolbox while improving testing efficiency and reducing workspace clutter. They include:

EXFO launches FTB-4 Pro platform for all-in-one 100G test

EXFO has launched the FTB-4 Pro platform, which it claims is the industry's smallest platform for testing high-speed optical networks.

The FTB-4 Pro is the latest addition to EXFO's modular test portfolio. It supports a wide range of modules across a wide range of test scenarios, from lab applications to field testing across all phases of the service delivery chain: development, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting.

EXFO offers OSA designed for network equipment manufacturers

The new FTBx-5245 Series of optical spectrum analysers (OSAs) from EXFO are dedicated to R&D labs and manufacturing. Faced with today’s unprecedented transformation challenges, network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) must innovate faster while managing costs and remaining agile in their production processes. The versatile form factor of the FTBx-5245 Series maximises return on investment for NEMs, according to EXFO.

AFL introduces Rogue iB1 intelligent base unit

Test and measurement specialist AFL is expanding its Rogue family of modular test equipment with the introduction of the Rogue iB1 intelligent base. The Android-inspired Rogue iB1 Intelligent Base has a seven-inch resolution colour touchscreen with an icon-based user interface for superior ease-of-use, and is ideal for applications and locations where smart devices are prohibited.

ID Photonics releases versatile optical spectrum analyser

Test and measurement specialist ID Photonics has unveiled the ID OSA, a versatile optical spectrum analyser for R&D and production test applications with picometer-class spectral resolution across the C Band.

The instrument is cost-effective, rugged, fast and compact, the company claims. Costing just 30 per cent of a traditional OSA, it has resolution of 312MHz or 2.5pm and performs a scan at full resolution within one second. The compact housing stacks in standard half size 19-inch racks with just 1HE height for integration into test rigs.
