Arden Photonics upgrades MPX software to Version 8

Arden Photonics has released new software for its MPX Modal Explorer, a system for checking the launch conditions into multimode fibre using real-time measurement of encircled flux.

The standards-compliant system is applicable to users of both MPX-1 (850nm) and MPX-2 (1300nm) units with a USB 2.0 interface between computer and MPX optical unit.

New OTDR modules expand Yokogawa AQ7280 capabilities

The test and measurement business of Yokogawa has launched three new optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) modules for its AQ7280 series. These new modules expand the range of applications that the Yokogawa AQ7280 OTDR can address.

The Yokogawa AQ7280 OTDR satisfies a broad range of test and measurement needs when analysing optical networks, and is designed to enable field technicians to make fast and precise measurements of optical fibres with confidence.

The three new modules are;

Keysight updates PAM-4 analysis software

Keysight Technologies has introduced two software updates for its real-time oscilloscope products. The updates are available in the Infiniium oscilloscope firmware version 5.60.

The N8827A PAM-4 analysis software update adds bit-error rate (BER) capabilities for four-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM-4) based signals. The N8834A MultiScope software update adds support for Keysight's InfiniiVision oscilloscopes.

Coherent Solutions introduces automatic bias controller for IQ-modulators

Coherent Solutions of Auckland, New Zealand, has launched the IQABC, a pattern independent automatic bias controller for IQ modulators used by engineers developing the next-generation of high-speed coherent optical systems.

The IQABC enables full control of an IQ-modulator’s DC biases, in automatic or manual mode, and is modulation format independent, paving the way towards simple generation of any conceivable optical signal.

Anritsu 64Gbaud DAC simplifies verification of 400GbE devices

Anritsu has introduced the G0361A, a 64Gbaud two-bit digital to analogue converter (DAC) with dual-channel 2x1 multiplexers.

When connected to the MP1800A signal quality analyser, it creates what the company claims is the industry’s first test set-up that supports signal generation and bit error rate (BER) tests for high baud rate signals, such as 128G PAM4 (four-level pulse amplitude modulation).

EXFO revamps entire OTDR and iOLM product range

EXFO has overhauled its entire range of optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) for characterising fibre-optic cables. With 42 new and completely redesigned models, EXFO’s new C-series OTDRs offer improved specifications and extended performances to any networks, the company claims.

Now available on practically the entire product range, EXFO's Intelligent Optical Link Mapper (iOLM) application provides automated fault finding as well as accuracy and repeatability in fibre characterisation.

EXFO releases high-resolution tunable DWDM OTDR

EXFO has released the FTBx-740C-DWC, a high-resolution tunable optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) designed to expedite troubleshooting of Metro Ethernet connections typically used by business-grade services such as fibre-to-the-premises or cellular backhaul.

This DWDM OTDR complements EXFO’s coarse wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM) OTDR and Ethernet test modules to provide a comprehensive and powerful kit for field technicians when installing or troubleshooting Metro Ethernet links.

EXFO releases MaxTester 940 fiber certifier OLTS

The latest addition to EXFO’s portfolio of test equipment is the MaxTester 940 Fiber Certifier optical loss test system (OLTS). The new test tool is designed to help installation contractors, network engineers and IT maintenance technicians achieve faster, more accurate system acceptance of data centre and enterprise network structured cabling.

The new EXFO certifier carries out certification of fibre-optic links against international industry standards quickly and accurately, and has an advanced suite of user-assistance features. 

Anritsu improves all-in-one test set for multichannel modules

Anritsu has launched the BERTWave MP2100B, an all-in-one test set with integrated bit error-rate tester (BERT) and sampling oscilloscope, designed for testing optical modules in research and production environments.

The MP2100B is the successor to the company’s popular MP2100A. Supporting up to four channels rather than two, the instrument provides more efficient evaluation of multichannel optical modules.
