Camarillo, California-based OptoTest is proud to announce the release of an update to its OP720 optical switch for test and measurement applications. The company’s existing slim-line, 1U enclosure still works for 1xN switches up to 24 channels, but the redesign allows for many new configurations to fit within a 2U rack-mountable enclosure, the company says. These changes will enable greater degrees of customisation to suit customers’ requirements.

Components and subsystems developer II‐VI has unveiled its pluggable optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) for embedded network monitoring applications in carrier and data centre networks.

AFL is launching an enhanced version of its FOCIS Flex, a self-contained, handheld connector inspection tool with a host of new features including a larger, brighter display as well as MPO multi-fibre connector inspection with auto-focus and pass/fail analysis.

Test and measurement company Yenista Optics is introducing a new module to its transmission laser product line. The OSICS DFB LAN WDM module is available in four wavelengths: 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58 and 1309.14nm. The wavelength is temperature stabilized and the output power can be set up to 10dBm.

Test and measurement specialist EXFO has added Speedtest by Ookla's technology to its MaxTester 635G tester, giving service providers a single tool that integrates physical, service and throughput testing.

Introduced last year, MaxTester 635G is a handheld G.fast test set and has already been selected by Openreach for its G.fast roll-out (see EXFO MaxTester 635G selected for Openreach G.fast pilot).

At BICSI Winter 2017 in Tampa, Florida, test and measurement vendor AFL will demonstrate the Rogue modular test platform and aeRos cloud-based software, designed to work in harmony with the way fibre-optic networks are built, operated and maintained. Together these tools can make every aspect of the testing process more efficient, the company claims.

Yokogawa has unveiled the AQ6374, a high-performance optical spectrum analyser for general-purpose optical testing over the 350-1750nm wavelength range, from visible light through to telecommunications wavelengths.

MicroCare will introduce the Cassette CleanClicker fibre-optic connector cleaner at the BICSI Winter Conference and Exhibition 2017 in Tampa, Florida, on 22–26 January. This new cassette cleaner is designed to be economic alternative to more expensive, trigger-operated cassette cleaners.

Fibre-optic connector inspection can be enhanced with the RMS-1 TruVue fibre optic video scope, now available for Windows-7, Windows-8, and Windows-10 operating systems.

The RMS-1 uniquely records both still digital and motion video images. Images such as this are critical to identify that cleaning processes are being carried out correctly. The instrument can be used for field service, production lines, and as an essential tool for training applications.

The new AQ7277B from Yokogawa Europe is a high-performance optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) module for use with remote fibre-test systems (RFTS). Continuous monitoring of optical fibre lines using OTDR technology can speed up the identification and location of failures by detecting increased loss in the fibre line, and facilitates restorative maintenance.
