While chip shortages and supply chain issues have been big news over the past two years, one of the other major challenges affecting telecoms is the shortage of skilled staff throughout the supply chain.

In its recent report, Future of Work: The Global Talent Crunch, consulting firm Korn Ferry forecasts that by 2030 the deficit of skilled workers in the global technology, media, and telecommunications sector will reach 4.3 million workers.

This webinar looks at how the telecoms sector is addressing this issue, with case studies highlighting successful recruitment campaigns and tips on attracting the best candidates.

Emma Atkins
Founder at FibrePeople and Chairperson of INCA’s Labour & Skills Special Interest Group

Emma is a recruitment specialist in the fibre industry, with experience both in-house and as part of an agency, delivering recruitment and training solutions to growing companies.

Following a number of years working with leaders across the industry, including as in-house talent management at UK ISP, Hyperoptic, Emma established FibrePeople in June 2020 as a  recruitment agency dedicated to the fibre industry.

Emma will highlight some of the best practices that companies can adopt when recruiting and offer real-life advice on how to retain great people once they have been employed.

 
 

Angela Shek
Resourcing Co-ordinator, FullFibre 


Angela Shek is Resourcing co-ordinator for UK national wholesale telecoms network provider, FullFibre. She has nearly four years of recruiting experience. Prior to joining FullFibre, Angela was an in-house recruiter for a leading healthcare company. She was responsible for sourcing and placing sales, finance, operations and administrative professional nationwide, in which she managed the full-cycle recruitment processes and ensured open communication and transparency with clients and candidates.

Angela will discuss the company's recent partnership with the government's Kickstart Scheme to create new job opportunities for 16-24 year-olds. Successful applicants will be paid 100 per cent of the National Living Wage for their 25 hours of work per week over the six-month placement, with the potential of a full-time position after the initial placement.

 

Lori Lantz
Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer at CableLabs

Lori Lantz is the Chief People Officer at CableLabs. As a member of the executive team, her focus is on the organisational and cultural development of the company and its subsidiaries. She leads the alignment of strategic talent management with the overall business strategy and vision of CableLabs. One of Lori’s priorities is to provide professional development opportunities to all employees which enable high functioning teams to thrive. Equally important is an emphasis on building high-trust relationships and developing exceptional leaders. Inspired by encounters with diverse and interesting people, she is passionate about helping them increase their capacity and confidence in their roles across the organisation.

Prior to CableLabs, Lori held various positions in human resources at National Jewish Health in Denver. Most recently she was the Director of Learning and Development where she developed a leadership academy to provide ‘knowledge and wisdom to lead’ to create a highly engaged workforce.

Lori received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Pacific Lutheran University and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Regis University. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, as well as certifications in a variety of organisational development and personality assessment tools. Lori will share her experiences of recruitment and professional development at CableLabs.
