Genexis is demonstrating its FiberBridge MDU solution at the FTTH Conference in London from 14 to 16 April.
The solution is designed to help operators bypass the costly logistical hurdles of rewiring legacy buildings by reusing existing in-building cabling to connect individual apartments to a fibre network.
The MDU challenge: Maximising ROI in brownfield sites
As European FTTH networks mature from adoption to activation, maximising return on investment (ROI) has become a primary concern for operators. Multi-dwelling units (MDUs) often present significant barriers to deployment due to the complexity and cost of running new fibre through legacy internal wiring, which often leads to project delays.
Genexis, a European leader in broadband solutions, is positioning its FiberBridge technology, also known as Gigabit Any Media, as a bridge for this transition.
Gigabit Any Media technology
The FiberBridge solution enables fibre-like broadband speeds over existing copper or coax cabling within a building. Crucially for network engineers, the technology supports full OMCI (ONT Management and Control Interface) integration. This allows for:
Seamless management: Operators can manage the connection across diverse OSS/BSS systems and OLT platforms as if it were a native fibre connection.
Vendor interoperability: The solution simplifies deployments in buildings with mixed-vendor environments.
Genexis will demonstrate the solution in London in cooperation with Positron Access Solutions.
FTTH Conference participation
Beyond the hardware demonstration, Genexis will lead conversations on bringing connectivity to MDUs at scale. Company representatives are scheduled to participate in panels discussing excellence in the home broadband experience, circularity in manufacturing, and sustainable finance for fibre networks.
