Singapore network operator, StarHub has partnered with NeutraDC, the data centre division of Telkom Indonesia, to deploy post-quantum cryptography (PQC) across cross-border connectivity infrastructure linking Singapore and Indonesia.
The collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed on 28 November, integrates StarHub's low-latency optical data centre interconnect (DCI) platform with NeutraDC's carrier-neutral facilities serving enterprise and hyperscale customers across both markets.
Point of presence at Singapore facility
StarHub will establish a point of presence at NeutraDC's SNG-3 data centre in Singapore, providing customers with access to sub-1 millisecond connectivity to cable landing stations for regional subsea cable access.
The platform combines software-defined networking capabilities, including network slicing, multi-tenancy portals, and bandwidth-on-demand provisioning, with quantum-safe encryption protocols designed to address future cryptographic vulnerabilities.
"Enterprises today are navigating unprecedented data demands, and they need infrastructure that can keep up with their growth," said Tan Kit Yong, chief of regional enterprise at StarHub. "Through this collaboration with NeutraDC, we're making it simpler for businesses to move, protect, and scale their data."
Post-quantum cryptography deployment
The quantum-safe connectivity initiative responds directly to emerging threats from quantum computing capabilities that could compromise current encryption standards (known as the 'Store Now, Decrypt Later' risk). PQC implements algorithms resistant to attacks from both classical and quantum computers, aligning with future security mandates and global standards development (such as NIST).
Sendang Praptomo, chief executive of NeutraDC Singapore, said the deployment supports the operator's strategy for secure, cloud-ready connectivity to its regional GPU cloud infrastructure. "Quantum secure connectivity represents the new frontier of security, overcoming the limitations of current encryption standards," he said.
Regional interconnect expansion
The partnership forms part of StarHub's strategy to extend its low-latency DCI footprint across Southeast Asia. The operator is developing alliances with data centre operators to provide enterprises with quantum-secure, cloud-ready connectivity infrastructure.
Service orchestration and automation features are designed to accelerate provisioning times and enable dynamic scaling for data-intensive workloads across the platform. NeutraDC’s SNG-3 facility is strategically positioned to support cross-border data exchange for mission-critical applications between the two nations.
