Scott Wilkinson joins Cignal AI as lead analyst for optical hardware segment

BOSTON, MA - Network component and equipment market research firm Cignal AI announced that Scott Wilkinson has joined the team as lead analyst, optical hardware. With more than 20 years in the optical industry, Wilkinson is dedicated to Cignal AI’s quantitative and qualitative research for the optical hardware market – including carriers, equipment manufacturers, and components.

‘Scott has an extensive background working in the industry and a deep technical knowledge of operators’ optical networks. Working together, we will broaden Cignal AI’s coverage of the optical hardware sector and enhance our focus on emerging applications such as cable and 5G mobile fronthaul and backhaul,’ said Andrew Schmitt, founder and directing analyst. ‘Scott is a valuable addition to our team and will help us build upon the momentum that Cignal AI built since its inception two years ago years ago. Over the past two decades, Wilkinson has worked directly in the telecommunications industry, gaining extensive corporate experience in fibre-to-the-home, long-haul optical hardware, carrier Ethernet, MPLS and SDN/NFV-enabled networks. Before joining Cignal AI, he held senior positions in product management and systems engineering for Hitachi Telecommunications, in technical marketing for MRV, and was a marketing director at ECI Telecom, where he championed the company’s optical transport and packet switching solutions and oversaw its North American business development.
