70S fusion splicer

Fujikura Europe has announced that its fusion splicer, the 70S, is being used by longstanding partner CTTS in its training area at ECOC's FTTX Zone.

CTTS is a leading recognised international centre of excellence for the provision of training in the Digital Industries sector and each year manages and organises the FTTX Zone at ECOC.

Fujikura is the CTTS preferred partner for fusion splicers and has supported the company for over 21 years, recently delivering 70S splicers to train the JT Global Gigabit Field Force in Jersey.

'We have had a long and productive relationship with Fujikura and are pleased to once again be using its equipment in our demonstrations at ECOC in the FTTX Zone.  We hope to see lively engagement with industry professionals at this year's event,' said Martyn Cook, group chairman at CTTS.

The 70S has a rugged construction design to provide the highest reliability by resisting shock, rain and dust, allowing it to withstand a 30 inch drop test on six sides. It also features a wind protector and a tube heater which has been developed for quicker splicing cycles and to reduce the number of operational steps. The unit also includes a high-resolution LCD monitor, powerful Li-ion battery for longer operation time and built in videos for on-the-go training.

'Our flagship splicer is taking centre stage at Europe's flagship optical conference which is great,' said Neil Bessant, fusion splicer divisional manager of Fujikura Europe. 'We have designed the 70S to be ergonomic, fast and to have great durability whilst reducing splicing time to just seven seconds. I am sure visitors to the show will be impressed by the functionality of the device.'
