Fast Short Link from EXFO tests short links three times faster

Test and measurement vendor EXFO says that its new software, Fast Short Link, can characterise short optical links three times faster than before. Fast Short Link provides link characterisation including accurate link loss, length and high-level link mapping, all under 10 seconds per fibre.

Fast Short Link is a new feature for the iOLM software that provides automation and intelligent diagnostics in EXFO’s line of optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs). It is designed for applications in data centres, fibre to the antenna, enterprise LAN/WAN and for any other uses requiring characterisation of high numbers of optical short links.

"Creating smart solutions that help our clients reduce their operating expenses and maximise their workforce efficiency is always on top of our mind," said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO's vice-president, test and measurement. "Fast Short Link reduces testing time and is perfectly suited for fibre installers and contractors. It shows the depth and maturity of our iOLM application, which has revolutionised OTDR testing through test orchestration and analytics."

Fast Short Link is available now. Customers must activate the iOLM Advanced option and update their iOLM software version.
