AFL unveils high-fibre-count tactical micro-cable

AFL says its new micro-tactical fibre-optic cable combines the ruggedness of military tactical cable designs with the ultra-high fibre density of AFL’s micro-cable technology.

Designed for rapid deployment in networks that require high mechanical performance specifications, AFL’s micro-tactical cable combines ruggedness with ultra-high fibre density. The military-grade cable withstands high tensile loads, severe crushing forces, repeated impacts and extreme temperatures.

AFL offers bend-insensitive multimode optical fibre for harsh environments

Optical fibre and cable manufacturer AFL has introduced the VHM7000 Series of highly bend-insensitive 50µm graded-index multimode optical fibre designed for harsh environments. With its optimised optical design, VHM7000 Series fibres are engineered to operate under extremely small bend radii down to 7.5mm.

AFL launches TITAN RTD FTTx system for faster deployment

AFL has introduced the TITAN RTD FTTx system, a pre-terminated cabling system that allows for quick and easy subscriber connections anywhere in the outside plant (OSP) network.

The unique product set features AFL TRIDENT hardened fibre-optic connectors and TITAN RTD multiport fibre terminals. The sealed and rugged design of both products provides long-term reliability and allows the products to be placed anywhere in the network – underground, in pedestals, on poles, or on aerial strand or ADSS cables.

AFL launches Fujikura 62S active alignment fusion splicer

AFL has expanded its Fujikura fusion splicer product line with the Fujikura 62S, an active core alignment splicer designed for exceptional splice loss performance and reduced splice time.

With a conventional flip-open wind protector and non-motorised tube heater, the complexity of the splicer is reduced without compromising total cycle time. The auto-start feature for the splicing and tube heating process reduces the number of necessary steps to process splices.

AFL launches FlexScan pocket-sized OTDR

AFL has introduced FlexScan, a pocket-sized, hand-held optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) that provides fast, accurate fibre-optic network characterisation and fault location. Combining SmartAuto data acquisition with event analysis and intuitive LinkMap display, FlexScan enables technicians to quickly and easily troubleshoot faulty optical networks, or completely characterise newly installed networks, the company claims.

AFL increases maximum fibre count for CentraCore OPGW

Aerial cable specialist AFL has introduced a higher fibre count of up to 96 fibres for its CentraCore OPGW (optical ground wire) cable. This type of cable is designed to replace traditional static/shield/earth wires on overhead transmission lines and provide a communications pathway for telecommunications purposes.
